Thread: 95-97 200SX headlights on a 98 200SX?

Alright here is the deal. Found some 97 200SX headlights and installed them on my 98 200SX. Now when I go to turn the headlights on the high beams automatically turn on. I think I figured out what the problem is. 95-97 B14's use a 9004 bulb, 98 200SX uses a 9007 bulb. Switch out the bulbs you say? That doesn't seem to work. The 9007 bulbs won't fit into the 97 headlights. Now what are my options? Is it safe to run these 9004 bulbs on my 98 200SX? Will I burn my car up? Kinda messed up that this stupid problem is a problem at all. Went through all kinds of shit to get these headlights installed. Got the honey comb grill on there too. Sucks I might have to go back to the fish mouth style. Anyone in here run into this problem before?

Had this same, but opposite issue when I put 98 headlights on my 97. The high beams came on automatically but would go off when I pushed the stalk forward (which would normally put the them on) - but I think the little blue high beam stayed on the whole time. I think I just dealt with it, and I found out one or two of the wires needed to be switched or something

This is my exact problem right now. If I remember correctly my 97 SE-R had the same problem. Someone had installed halo headlights and the blue high beam symbol was always on. Anyway I think I just thought of a possible solution. In the socket where the bulb goes into there are 3 nubs where the bulb slides onto. What if I cut those out? Bulb would slide in easy then. Found this out by looking at one of my 98 headlights. Right side headlight doesn't have those nubs. Someone must have cut those out. Man I really don't want to switch back to the 98 headlights. I had a hell of a time getting the 97's on there.

You may be onto something, as it's been a year or so but I just remembered, I ended up using the correct part headlight bulb in the different headlight socket, but I rigged them into staying in place since the connectors were different. That solved the issues

Cool. Well I think i'm going to cut those nubs out. That is the only thing keeping me from installing these 9007 bulbs. I don't even think those nubs are needed. No way are the bulbs going to spin in the socket. You already have that wire clip holding the bulb in and it's pretty damn snug already. Unless someone can think of a reason why this is a bad idea, i'm doing it. Going to have to remove the headlights again though. Hate doing that. Too damn hot to be working on the car right now.

How do I adjust the headlights? At night while driving the light beam seems to be pointing upwards? To get them to point down more do I mess with the inside screw, or is it the outside one next to the turn signal lamps?
