AC Help.
I posted this in the tech section on the other forum and have gotten no reply yet. So here it is.

Well I am pretty sure I fried my AC yesterday. I went to recharge the the system and after I did it I realized that I did not wait for the compressor to kick off. Or as stated in the recharge instructions the "clutch" to kick in. Now it blows no cold or cool air at all. As it was cool before. When I turn on the the air the compressor it comes on and then goes off in an instant with a CLICK. I'm sure I'm out more now than I was before. I searched around but didn't find what I was looking for. Any suggestions/helpful hints of on this? I know I might need a new compressor now knowing but I'm not for sure. Anybody have any suggestions or helpful hints? Is the compressor screwed? I gotta have air. Thanks Adam

maybe the a/c clutch when bad. So yes you may need to change the compressor

Did you pull vacuum on the system? It may have air in the lines. I'm getting ready to do the A/C one of my cars so I've been reading up. This thread is really helpful:

Thanks for the link. I have read it and will be reading it over through the day. Seems I need to determine a few things before I just up and decide that my compressor is really dead according to the link. I'll have to get the system checked and make my next move. I'll keep you all posted.

Update: I drove the car yesterday, turned on the air and I had freezing cold air. For a block. Then it got hot again. So I kept on driving with it turned off for a while then back on and it was cold, but not as it was at start up. So the compressor can't be gone. So monday I'm having the system checked. I'm too chicken to try it on my own.
