Thread: 95 Se-R keeps eating wheel bearings

I have a 95 ser that is stock except for ssac header and poly mounts. The problem I am having is that the passenger side is going through wheel bearings about every three months. After the second time it happened I went and got a different hub assembly from pull a part (thinking that was the problem). Now it is happening again but it's both sides this time. What could be causing this?!? I have replaced both ball joints and tie rods and the alignment is fine. I am at a loss here. Please help.

Are you using oem bearings? and have you been putting the seals on the back so dirt doesnt get into the bearings? That could eat away at the bearings really quickly.

Are your axles tight?

Axles are tight but I have been using timkin bearings with both seals. I am going to go the oem route this time I just want to sort stuff out so I don't have to spend any more unnecessary money, I'm already 300 bucks in the hole :/

Are you installing the wheel bearings yourself or having a shop do it? I'm asking this cause you have to press the bearing in using the outer race, if you put pressure on the inner race then the bearing will fail prematurely.

It's not uncommon for the bore in the knuckle to get distorted and then bearings will fail very quickly. Had this happen with my race car, and the bearing would be noticeably loose after under 100 miles.

Replace the knuckle and bearings with OEM....

I have always had a shop press them in. I'm just going to get new oe spindles and bearings and hopefully that fixes this.

I had the same issue a while back. Change the spindle.
