functioning wing
Is the stock wing on a 200sx functional? After having mine awhile iv noticed water/snow doesn't sit on it and its big enough so maybe.

if you havent noticed your car is FWD, wings dont do a whole lot under a certain speed, and i would bet ours is pretty high.

Somewhere I read its a myth fwd cars wings are a waste. But yea only at higher speed would it come into play, and it probly has little effect on this cars feel.

I didnt mean to sound harsh but i would think our wings are made more for looks. Maybe at high speeds (>100mph) it would effect something but under that i would say little to nothing.

It would be interesting to find out IF it does do something and at what speed.

a trick the old showroom stock guys would do is fill the gap between the wing and trunk lid with tape , they would run faster lap times ....till they outlawed it in that class .... But stock wing as it sits may help a little at higher speeds , but probably not a huge amount ...

X2 There used to be an illustration somewhere on the other forums of how functional it was, which was still only at higher speeds...

I will have to agree with the rest, it doesn't seem like its too functional, but it changes the look of the car so much (for the better)

wings that are out of the air stream(like the 200sx) are for lowering the coeficient of drag by creating a turbulent boundy layer at the end of the car. Similar to how the dimples on a golf ball make it go farther.
