Thread: 200SX engine/intake heat shield

Ive seen these on other cars, so I thought Id see if I could make one. Since I have a "warm-air" intake (WAI) setup, engine heat can be an issue, especially during summer. Ive been looking for something to help keep the temperature down around the intake area, but there really is nothing out there for our car. So, I decided to make one myself. I have access to some strong, thin plastic sheets, and a way to cut and bend it. Here is my prototype;









Im still working on exact dimensions so it will fit better. It will screw into the metal piece that the stock intake box was screwed on to, using the same screws. Also, im going to spray some kind of anti-heat coating on the engine side of the heat shield.

What do you guys think? I could possbily make a few more if anyone interested in one.

I made a sheet metal box many years ago for my B13,looked a lot like this.I made mine a little taller,so that it would seal against the hood when closed.I used an edge molding that had a rubber seal on the top to keep heat from sneaking over the top edge.Worked well.Looking good!
