Thread: Rear O2 sensor question

I have a 1997 sentra with a det swap using the 1996 calum ecu. I don't have a rear o2 harness (because its part of the body harness not ecu harness). My question is that the ecu uses the 3 wire O2 (different from the big bodied 4 wire of the 98+) that being said will the narrowband signal from my LC1 (MTX-L Gauge kit) pipe a proper signal into the ecu for the CEL to go off? or will it just be the same as the 98+ O2 signal.
any help will be appreciated

As long as it gets a signal, I think the ECU is happy and the CEL should turn off.

I have used known defective rear O2 sensors and the light would stay off.

I have a 96 SE I put my 98 SE engine into when I wrecked it and had to cut and extend the rear o2, but the harness is 3 wire and the new o2 from my 98 is 4 wire so what I'm doing (soon as I fix the crack in one if the pipes) is going to splice it into the 4 wire o2 it and can report back if you're curious how it worked out? I believe the 4th wire is just an extra ground and can be combined with the other ground before splicing together. Odd thing is none of the wires are connected right now and I'm not getting a CEL anyway lol

I can tell you which colors to splice together if you'd like considering yours are the same?

didn't work I assume because the 95-96 use the titina? O2 sensor which from what I understand puts out a variable resistance and not voltage like all the other O2 sensors. worth a shot I guess.

Yeah, makes sense. My O2 sensor ended up needing replaced so i just got a new one that fit the stock harness, i wont have anything to report back about as my previous post stated lol
