Thread: Anyone else autox their B14?

I have taken mine to a couple events. Running on some bald street tires so I think it can run a lot better than what I ran once I get a new set of tires.

Suspension Setup

AGX
Road Magnet
Whiteline Rear Sway
Removed Front Sway (After reading some people say I'll get more oversteer this way although I'm thinking of putting it in back and see the differences)

No strut tower bars?

Stiffen the hell out of the rear, get better suspension, get a rear shock tower bar, bend beam to zero toe, pray, profit?

Because AGX's and Road Magnets is a shitty suspension, right?

You're always preaching independent rear and complaining about the beam. Don't get me wrong though, it is by no means an ideal rear suspension setup..Doesn't mean he is far off from a setup that handles well. All you need asap are some STB's.

Not a big fan of RMs, I had hypercos(pretty much RMs)/agxs at one point in my b14s life and wasnt too fond of them. Better set up on a budget is slapping some gc coils on the agxs. If its a daily driver with some auto x duty get the rear beam bent to 0 toe and get an rstb.

EDIT: Try and score some camber plates.

The suspension I have is shit also. I autocrossed twice in my car as it was setup and it was a waste of time and tires.

If he really wants to autocross the car, my suggestions (and what Vex suggested) are the bare minimum to begin handling in any direction towards correct and proper. Perhaps a read of more information would be of help to everyone, in this thread.

I have not done AutoX but i get it to the track every time i can. Im using almost the same setup as you:
AGX with RMs
Front and rear tower bars

Once i put the front camber to -2.5° and it worked awesome. I would sugest you to work on the rear of the car to make it turn better. Getting the rear beam bent to zero toe and getting a set of coil springs to stiffen the rear a lot more to cause oversteer. You have to be carefull because you can spin out... But... most important is a good set of tires, i personaly used full slicks but you can use something not that agressive like the Yokohama Advan A048 or the Nitto's.

Im still working on my suspension setup as i still need the rear swaybar and a new suspension, hopefully going for some Ksports.

You can also experiment with tire pressures. Each tire type and each suspension setup and each driving style and each track condition will have an optimum tire pressure bias from front to rear. However, you can establish some general settings for the start of each day. Then, you can adjust after each run.
Remember, if you continually change things, it will take longer for you to develop your driving technique since you will be learning a new car with each event.
If you put the front sway bar back in, use ES or some other poly type bushings and end link washers. They will give you crisper response.

And the negative to this is it will increase front roll resistance which will increase understeer in a chassis that is suffering from terminal understeer.
