Thread: Det and factory ecu

Hi everyone before the flaming starts yes I've searched this forum and the old one. My question is simple. I have recently started to search for an engine swap in my 97 ser since one of my rods is trying like hell to escape. My question is if I did a det swap with an obd2 det do I have to replace my ecu for a turbo one or can my ecu work for now since I need to do the swap quick since this is my daily.

you need some sort of fuel management setup, the stock usdm ecu wont be able to control it properly without some sort of piggy back system.

you can run it iwth the usdm maf ecu and injectors but you will be close to limit on all those items, but it would drive fine

that being said the jdm computer wont plug into your socket. you have to find a jwt calum or some sort of chipped ecu programmed for your set up

I kind of figured that was going to be the case. Oh well VE here I come!
