pic shows RR pan but I assume it's the same for non RR. I did see in the FSM that for the upper pan you need to go to the outside for 6 holes but not on the lower steel pan.
Well, there yah go. I figure they are trying to make sure globs of it don't end up blocking the easy flow of oil back down into the pan. Or maybe they are trying to prevent globs from breaking off and getting stuck in the oil pickup screen.
With careful application (just enough) I doubt there is much of a difference.
Duly noted though.

Shit. Looks like I failed in my attempt to fix my pan leak . I'm going to try again tomorrow. I'm thinking I didn't use enough rtv on the corner cause that's where it's leaking from. Or maybe I used too much?
I had one on my NX and it held up well. I only put about 1000 miles on that gasket before i ended up scrapping the car.

Do I need any rtv when using one of these gaskets? I'm going to buy the gasket and a can of right stuff tomorrow. If the gasket doesn't hold up, i'll try the right stuff. Right stuff grey is the one I want right? Not the black?
