92' cams in a 97' b14 SE-R
Forgive me if this has been asked an answered. I recently installed 92' sentra SE-R cams in my b14 SE-R and the thing sounds like a freaking diesel. So I searched about what would make it sound so loud and people said that the lifters may not have been oiled up properly so I took the VC off and the cams out and oiled up everything and then re-installed the cams and fired it up. Still sounds like a diesel! I've made sure that the timing is correct, the crank pulley at TDC and the cam gears matching the silver links on the chain so I am as sure as i can be that the timing isnt the issue. Any suggestions? The engine sounded fine before the new cams, but i dont understand why the cams would cause this issue.

I remember for a fact that its not supposed to run bad. Maybe it is out of timing or something?

They probably have air in them and need to be bled, if they are that loud.

How did air get into the HLA's, that is what I need to know!

I dropped a '91 intake cam in mine with no problems. I still suspect your cam timing is off. What do you mean by "silver links are correct"? As I recall, there are yellow dots on the gears for position.

Very easy to get the timing off by having the chain skip a tooth when tightening everything back down. I guarantee that is the issue, not really anything else that could go wrong with that install..

I'm going to bleed the hla's today and see if thats the issue. I'll check the timing again. I'm following the FSM for the timing but maybe i'm messing up
