Throwout Bearing
I put in a new clutch this weekend. I was in such a rush that I didn't realize that I didn't put lubrication on the inner part of the throwout bearing or the input shaft. The car runs fine but I hear a slight rattle coming from the tranny. Is it okay to leave it that way or do I have to drop the bellhousing again to lubricate the bearing and the shaft?

i would pull the housing and lubricate it up, otherwise you might bet premature wear from the bearing

I already put like 200 miles on it during the break in period of non aggressive driving. Is it best to put a new bearing in after I drop the bellhousing or will it be fine to just lubricate it and put the bellhousing back?

I would replace it and get new clips while you are at it

When I replaced the clutch, I replaced the throwout bearing and put new clips in. This was Sunday that just passed. So, the clips should be fine. I was concerned as to whether or not the throwout bearing was damaged now that I already put 200 miles on it.

honestly i would pull that throw out and replace it, lubricate it and reinstall, but thats just me. im not saying it is or isnt damaged, but i wouldnt take the chance on a mechanical part such as that

The lube on the inside is just for the t/o bearing sliding...if anything, just lube that, I don't think there is a need to replace the bearing, it comes pre-lubed.

I changed it just to be safe, although the one that was in there looked fine. I kept it and didn't throw it away.

Update: The car goes in gear with no problems at all and drives fine. However, there is a whine noise that happens when I am coming off of the clutch pedal, kind of like the noise that a band saw makes when cutting wood. It does this in just about every gear, especially when I down shift. What could be the cause of this noise?
