Eff my trunk
So as I planned to go do my speakers, I remembered something...

When I first bought my car, I was having issues closing the trunk. When I was able to slam it shut, it would often pop open while driving. I moved the lower hinge up a bit, and WD40'd the isht out of all of it. Now, the trunk closes perfectly, but the only way to open it is by climbing through the back seats, and pulling the safety latch on the bottom (not the one on the trunk lid, the one in the little hole on the chassis).

I've tried adjusting it about 50 different ways, no luck. Any suggestions?

Matt, run some water around your tail lamps to see if the leak is coming from there. You may have to seal the area around the tail lamps with silicone.

thanks man, I think that is where it's coming from.. Would new tail lamps be a better solution?

Don't know if new tails would solved the issue. I had this problem on the last B14 Sentra I owned. Found out that the black tar-like sealant that's used to seal the lamps dried out. All I did was place silicone all around the area where the tail lamps are mounted and my problem was solved, no more wet/flooded trunk.

did you pull them out to make the seal easier?

The tar-like sealant or the tails?

well, i meant the tails, but now that you mention it, the tar like material too.

and thinking about it, pulling the tails would be the easiest way to remove all the tar-like substance and make a cleaner seal
