Thread: I will be attempting my first CF build at the end of the month :)

I've got a bit of experience working with fiberglass (did quite a few FG sub boxes, after realizing I could do a pretty good job, lots of friends wanted things done).

I'm going to make an attempt at creating an insert for the B14 sun roof glass.

I will be doing this for my own use, not planning to mass produce these as I don't have time.

Thoughts and/or suggestions? If I fail at CF I will probably just go ahead and make one out of FG since I'm pretty sure I could pull that off a bit easier.

I need to find a good place to by the CF sheet from. Problem I'm running into, is I don't need much, and dont want to buy a ton. This seems like it would be an easier first piece, as its for the most part flat.

B14 sun roof, I haven't measured it yet, but whatever its measurements are x2 (top and bottom) plus a few inches. Can be in two pieces, doesn't matter.

IIRC,There was a guy on here(or the old forum) that did them.He was selling them...its was a while ago.Not sure if it ever happenned.

If anyone can give me some insight on working with CF vs FG it would be greatly appreciated.

...Why are you doing this? Does your sunroof not currently work? Don't want the weight up so high (track aspirations)? Bored?

good luck, its not much fun or easy either. Syndicate Kustomz used to make the insert as well.
