What is it for? It is sitting inside my console in front of the shifter, not connected to anything..

Maybe its the same harness as the auto and goes to something with the shifter

How many wires going into that plug? If 6, then it's something to do with the automatic shifter.

Just cuz your car wasnt a auto, doesnt mean its not going to have stuff on the wiring harness for a auto. They make the same wiring harness with plugs for tachs, auto stuff, ac, wither or not your car came with it. You think there going to produce a different harness for each car? Its for the auto shifter that does the lockout and lights to light up the shifer, and overdrive functions. My car has it as well. I cut it and used it for a power source when the lights are on for my glow gauges i put in when i was a ricer fool. I love how the white gauges look, but i unhooked the ballast when i got the car back lol, no longer in my taste.

I'm a pull a Ms. Cleo and say the plug something to do with the SRS airbag system. It looks oddly similar. If not, pull up the factory service manual and trace the color codes in the wire diagrams section.

And why would a plug for the airbag system be all the way down there. Just because its similiar in design? Id hate to see the airbag coming from the shifter. Heres a easy one for ya. Take a wire tester, turn off the lights and check each wire. then turn on. And you will have your answer that its for auto tranny if they would of made your car a auto instead of a stick since they use the same harness.
