Ive never really had a problem with the paint I use scratching off, the white that's in there now is a plastic spray on dye, I've rubbed/dropped screwdrivers on it and haven't had a problem, it could just be the way I prep the surface, I use 3 different chemicals to make sure there are no contaminants whatsoever. When I use regular paint I use an adhesive promoter, then primer, then paint with a heat gun in between.
.
That is a good ides though, test the durability of the coatings I use, I guess ill be going to the junkyard in a few hours to grab some random parts from different manufacturers cars.

I use black VHT dye for plastic interior parts, but I'm always open to learning something new. Would you go into more detail about the prep chemicals you use and the type dye? Thanks.

I usually sand the surface with 1000-2000 grit sand paper, wipe off the dust, then wipe it down with acetone, then rubbing alcohol, then lacquer thinner, let all of that dry for 5-10 mins, sometimes I use an adhesion promoter called bulldog before I paint, but mainly on abs plastic (pretty much every interior part)
.
as far as the dye goes I usually use the dupli-color but just started using the VHT stuff

Another vote for the option black, for the same two (2) reasons.

A one-stop shop. I go to seperate shops for every one of those items. It would not be bad at all to have it all under one roof.

It should be no suprise at all that I do not like any of the matching color schemes on interior trim. I am ancient, those types of mods look ricey, youngster-oriented, and way too flashy for me. My entire interior color of choice is black. On black. On black. With a smattering of red stitching.

I can empathize with defending friends, but no one attacked him, and I am not attacking you sir.

He opened a thread asking for opinions about interior color matching. You do not get to selectively limit folks on their opinions when starting a thread. This ain't a court of law, the OP ain't cross examining a hostile witness "Just answer the question yes or no." You cannot reasonably object to folks elaborating on their opinion on a car forum, including giving two (2) honest reasons why.

Now the OP not only knows that three votes are firmly for black, but why. Which is more useful than a curt, short, barked "black."

Nobody dogged the OP, trashed, flamed him or even called him a Ricer. Just stated the interior painting looks ricey and dated. It goes without saying that is an honest opinion. Nothing more, nothing less.

He did not ask for opinions on his work, he only asked about colors. Were you elaborating...? .....

Good to know if I ever required his expertise in changing my entire interior to black on black that Mike does good work.

Its JOANN, not JOEANNS; I was there tonight getting some new headliner material myself, good stuff and cheap, especially with the 40% off coupon from Michaels, since they accept competitors coupons.
