I've been wondering about this gas question too. A couple tanks ago I put in 87 Octane and measured about 22 mpg. I thought that was low. By accident, I put 89 octane in with my next tank and I got 25 mpg. Could the knock sensor be effecting the timing that much with the 87 octane? I still think 25 is low for mixed city/highway commuting. Maybe less ethanol in the last tank..?
I have an old Mustang 5.0 and it gets about 20 mpg with a V8

Most gas stations around here don't even carry 87, First time I seen anything below 89 is when I went up north past D.C. I don't know if it's a southern thing or what.

I remember the first time i seen 86 I was in upstate NY , I remember thinking WOW people put that in their cars!!!

I would go 93 Super, because I have s4's but even on a stock sr20, go 93! Gotta love the motor like its ur baby! Take care of it and it will make it run a hell lot better! :P

Back from the dead this thread is.
I'm still using premium, it is even cheaper now. When I made this thread premium was over $3 bucks. Right now a gal of premium is $2.30.
