My resonator aka pre-muffler is Magnaflow part no. 10436

Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.5in./2.5in.
Body Shape: 4in. Round
Core Size: 2.5in.
Body Length: 22in.

My muffler is Magnaflow part no. 12216

Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.5in./2.5in.
Body Shape: 5in.x8in. Oval
Core Size: 2.5in.
Body Length: 14in.

I think a new muffler is in order and that is Magnaflow part no. 12246

Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.5in./2.5in.
Body Shape: 5in.x8in. Oval
Core Size: 2.5in.
Body Length: 18in.


The above and below muffler should be more effective at sound suppression than even a Vibrant Flat Black Street Power part no. 1146
Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.5in./3.0in.
Body Shape: 4in.x9in. Oval
Core Size: 2.5in.
Body Length: 15in.

(The Vibrant are 5" x 9" x 15" and these Magnaflow examples 12246 and 12256 are 5" x 8" x 18". Besides the material and inner baffling, the sheer volume is an important factor to a quieter exhaust system)


Even better should be Magnaflow part no. 12256

Kyle, I was looking at the pictures you posted earlier in the thread about the flanged connections. I noticed those little support brackets for your cat at the front, may I ask where you got those? I have used this thread as my main reference for my new exhaust. I have everything except I need to weld in a bung for my rear o2 sensor and I am still awaiting the arrival of my new headers. The new cat I bought doesn't have hangers on it so I was wondering where you got those brackets, or if you made them yourself.

Also I'd like to add that the Xtune headers you have listed at the beginning are no longer being produced. I emailed the company about them and they told me they have been discontinued and will be taken down from their website. Just thought I'd let ya know.. cheers.

That is an OEM piece from Nissan that holds the cat and then connects to the body using exhaust bushings. (if we are talking about the same piece) I made nothing myself, asked other companies to create what I needed and they did so and everything worked well. Make sure you use the correct sized rear oxygen sensor bung. Sometimes they will try to use the larger one when the B14 uses the smaller one in the cat.

Thank you for the update on X-tune header availability. I am guessing there will be less and less headers out for the chassis since it approaching 20 years now.

Yes sir that is the piece I am talking about. Do you know of a place online I could get one?

Also on the rear o2 bung do you happen to know what size it is? I took some wrenches and a 18mm is what fit on the rear bung, and summit racing has stainless steel bungs that are 18mm x 1.5. I was going to get one of these. I just want to be absolutely sure that I am getting the right size.

I am in search of a 3 inch exhaust for my 200sx.

I wish i saw this thread before for those links of the o2 sensors. I replaced the upstream already and if the checklight comes on again i will replace the secondary with the sensor you have the link to on this thread.

Check vender section for VRS, @LikeTheMovies will get you squared away
