B14 Aftermarket exhaust kit system choices (direct bolt-on)
This is for the SR20DE engine since this is the sr20-forum.

This is so useful because this shows ways that anyone with a working hand can assemble an exhaust system. No welding is needed for these systems. This is plug and play at its finest. Please enjoy and if you can provide me with more options, please let me know. You can ask almost anyone who will make the system or send you a pre-bent, ready to bold on system whatever combination of parts you want.

Cat-back exhaust choices:

Please check out the local forum members. I truly believe keeping the community tightly knit will benefit EVERYONE who is interested. I will make this first part a list of forum members that sell exhaust systems or parts and a link to their profile. If you want added, please just ask me. I do not have enough time to find out on my own. This thread is here and I am more than willing to adjust it at any point. Thank you, all for your time.

A. LikeTheMovies @LikeTheMovies sells exhaust systems/parts. Here is a link to a thread he has created on The Dash.

8. Greddy SP2 cat-back

All of the above are for direct, bolt-on replacement systems from the cat-back and can be installed very easily with minimal amount of work.

If you or someone knows of another place that does B14 exhaust, please let me know.

O2 Sensor choices: These are for OBD II vehicles!! (but the NTK front will work with almost any SR20 USDM harness)
I prefer NGK/NTK O2 sensors. They all do the same thing but I have used Nissan OEM ones, Bosch, and NTK. I prefer NTK because the cost is relatively cheap, they give you any parts needed for OEM replacement and even include anti-seize compound.
Front:
NTK 24251

Rear:
NTK 24024

Connections for slip-fit exhaust systems:
C-Clamp (Pep Boys carries them, everywhere has them)

Vibrant band clamp (Part number 1166)

Gaskets: These are very important so please DO NOT SKIMP ON THEM. Buy the correct MLS (multi-layer steel) ones.

See these? Most of these gaskets are junk. The NTK Oxygen sensors are not crap, I am only talking about the gaskets. I only used one of the gaskets you see here (the one with two holes) and it was only because I could not find the copper one on summitracing or some other place in time. I have had it blow out because they degrade over time much faster than a traditional MLS gasket.

These are new OEM exhaust hangers, and in the upper right, a Nissan OEM exhaust manifold gasket. USE THIS GASKET. It matches the ports perfectly on a SR20DE lowport cylinder head. It seals very well, use it. Another quality MLS gasket. It is worth the buy from @GregV at G Spec Performance

Here is a comparison picture between a crappy gasket on the LEFT. And a good, Nissan OEM gasket on the right. The Nissan Gasket is 2.5" inner diameter.

The Copper ones from Summit are:

Please, friendly mods, sticky this post for others wanting to know of direct, bolt-on aftermarket exhaust systems for the B14 chassis.

Here is what my system sounds like.
My new system:
DNA Motoring header (2.5" collector)
Magnaflow high-flow cat (2.5" in and 2.5" out)
Magnaflow resonator (22" length of the muffler section, 28" overall length and 4 inches around)
Magnaflow 5" by 9" oval body muffler (with 2.5" tip)
^Courtesy of HOME

A 22 inch resonator WILL fit with a cat on the car. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise when in regards to the B14 chassis. I know this from experience.

Updating with some old news in here.

My resonator aka pre-muffler is Magnaflow part no. 10436

Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.5in./2.5in.
Body Shape: 4in. Round
Core Size: 2.5in.
Body Length: 22in.

My muffler is Magnaflow part no. 12216

Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.5in./2.5in.
Body Shape: 5in.x8in. Oval
Core Size: 2.5in.
Body Length: 14in.

I think a new muffler is in order and that is Magnaflow part no. 12246

Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.5in./2.5in.
Body Shape: 5in.x8in. Oval
Core Size: 2.5in.
Body Length: 18in.

The above and below muffler should be more effective at sound suppression than even a Vibrant Flat Black Street Power part no. 1146
Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.5in./3.0in.
Body Shape: 4in.x9in. Oval
Core Size: 2.5in.
Body Length: 15in.

(The Vibrant are 5" x 9" x 15" and these Magnaflow examples 12246 and 12256 are 5" x 8" x 18". Besides the material and inner baffling, the sheer volume is an important factor to a quieter exhaust system)

Even better should be Magnaflow part no. 12256.

Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.5in./2.5in.
Body Shape: 5in.x8in. Oval
Core Size: 2.5in.
Body Length: 18in.

The resonator I have is 28" overall length and fits with a few more inches to spare. So, you are AT LEAST guaranteed a 28" overall length of a resonator to jam in there after the cat-converter. Give or take a few depending upon all of the worlds variables.

Update! 03/23/2014 - I recently became more interested in a quiet system. So a bit more searching and nudging from other members around spawns another update to this thread, almost four years later. Resonators are a tough choice, you can go with one large piece which I have in the past at least twice now. I was not too bothered by my results but age makes me want it quieter without adding a turbocharger....

Here are new mufflers I have found that are pretty even as far as inlet and outlet measurements and locations. Price varies from $40 to $65 for the mufflers I found on the same web site.

Turbo mufflers are not a straight through design so an increase in backpressure will happen. Results and how much will vary. Here are the best options I have found so far from some heavy hitters in the exhaust muffler industry that utilize similar properties/technologies/style to decrease overall noise while cruising.

Summit Racing - Thrush Turbo 17718
Photo: Thrush PDF Other Link: Info about Thrush turbo mufflers in PDF and some here

Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.5in./2.5in. Center/Offset
Body Shape: 4.25in. x 9.75in. Oval
Core Size: 2.5in. via three chambers
Body Length: 20in.
Overall Length: 25in.

Summit Racing - Cherry Bomb Turbo 87752
Photo: Info about the Cherry Bomb Turbo mufflers and other sizes

Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.5in./2.5in. Center/Offset
Body Shape: 4.5in. x 9.75in. Oval
Core Size: 2.5in. via three chambers
Body Length: 14in.
Overall Length: 18.5in.

Summit Racing - Dynomax Super Turbo 17733
Photo: Info about the Dynomax Turbo mufflers and other sizes
[img][/IMG]
Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.5in./2.5in. Center/Offset
Body Shape: 4.25in. x 9.75in. Oval
Core Size: 2.5in. via three chambers
Body Length: 14in.
Overall Length: 18.5in.

Summit Racing - Magnaflow XL Turbo 13256
Photo: Info about the Magnaflow XL mufflers and other sizes

Inlet/Outlet Size: 2.5in./2.5in. Center/Offset
Body Shape: 4in. x 9in. Oval
Core Size: 2.5in. via three chambers
Body Length: 18in.
Overall Length: 24in.

The Thrush has the largest volume , followed second by the Magnaflow XL, then the Cherry Bomb and last is the Dynomax of these four turbo mufflers that all utilize three chamber technology, 2.5" center/offset mufflers.

Hope this helps

He's posting this in hopes that it becomes a Sticky, so that people stop asking what type of exhaust to get that will bolt on to a B14.

And stuck.

Exactly, thank you. I get PM's from people CONSTANTLY relating to where I got my system. I have freaking videos on YouTube with the NAME on it and people will mention they watched my video or seen my CarDomain. All of it is advertised freaking everywhere so I figured hey, I will find some good ones, and get some information for my upside-down bathtub on here!

Now, if I was a supplier, why would I advertise all four exhaust systems at different websites with good, competitive prices all around? (I wouldn't run that business very long, that is for sure)

Why? Was it not magnaflow parts? I had my aluminum exhaust for six years before it started getting so corroded, holes formed in it.

I run a weapon r header, magnaflow hi flow cat, magnaflow resonator and a 6 inch round body magnaflow muffler.

It is not from the videos and user experiences from here and the other forum that I have read.
