Trying the "impossible" but I need help
Ok. I posted my first thread here like a long time ago. I dunno if anyone remembers me... but... yeah.

I'm rather new to the grease monkey world. I just started becoming very inquisitive about cars and trying all this DIY stuff yourself with some ideas from my grandfather (mechanic) here and there. I changed my own oil, spark plugs, air filter, etc. etc.

And then tragedy hit....

One day on the highway... don't ask me how, but something cracked into my oil pan and all my oil leaked out on the highway and my engine started smoking. I immediately stopped the car and freaked out... then called a tow truck and got my car towed home. Well... I got a a new oil pan, put it on... put 3 quarts of oil in it and tried starting my car.

For some reason, it didn't start. It was just giving me that dead motor sound. I asked some of my mechanic friends to check it out... and after 4 different opinions, it seems like my motor has blown. I was depressed for like two days until I found good news until I found a new one for a good price... the only good AND bad news about my find is that the tranny is manual. I ALWAYS wanted to do a tranny conversion but I always put it off.. and now I FINALLY have a excuse to do so.

Anyways... it seems like no one wants to help me doing a stick conversion besides my cousin who knows just about as much about cars as I do. (Basic crap) My gramps offered to help with putting in the new motor but refused to do a tranmission conversion.

So, SR20 I am looking to you guys for your expert advice. I need to do a motor AND tranny swap simultaenously. I saw some write ups last year but they"ve seemed to have disappeared.

Can you guys point me in the right direction? I need to know what tools I need, what I should expect, and all that other stuff.

I have a dream of making this happen, and I REFUSE to give up until it's done. If anything, I wanna atleast get my baby up and running again....

Thanks in advance for any help given by you guys. I lurk a lot, but there are some SERIOUSLY knowledgeable guys here.

Here is one write-up, it lists everything you're going to need.

Alright. Hmm.. I just have a couple of questions on what parts I will need exactly.

The guy I'm buying from has his sr20 in a nissan sentra ser. He has everything set up as far as I can tell. The only thing, is he didn't ground his thing properly because his fuel pump isn't getting any power. So, he basically gave up and is gonna go sr20ve after buying a B14.

Anyways... here's a pic.

He's selling me the whole car. However, I wanna know what parts I would need to worry about, about what would be included.

Sorry to be such a pain, but it was probably included in the write up, but I'm new to all this stuff so, I kinda don't know where a lot of these parts are. Right now, the thing I'm intimidated the most on is the wiring. Also, do I really have to buy a new ECU, or could I used the ECU outta the sentra ser? Thanks again, guys.

Wouldn't it be easier to fix the B13, considering you're buying the whole car.

I'm not positive on what the differences are between a 5-speed B13 and a 5-speed B14, your best bet is obviously to get the parts from a B14.

The engine you can obviously use, as well as the transmission. You can use the ECU if you swap the engine harness. The shifter and shifter bracket you can use. I believe you can use all the motor mounts.

I don't know if the clutch pedal, brake pedal, shifter linkages, or crossmember are the same.

Well... I thought about that possibility and it does make sense.... I know it'd be easier just to fix the B13.

However, I'm a stupid and sentimental guy. My B14 is my baby. it was my second car and I brought her cheap with a busted tranny. Spent a week helping my gramps replace the tranny and it's been love ever since. I feel like that car is a part of me. Lol.

So. Is it safe to say that the only things I would need to buy is the crossmember possibly the clutch pedal, brake pedal, and shifter linkages?

I'm gonna start as SOON as the semester is over. So, mid-May I wanna get started and finish before the month is over.

I wouldn't say it is safe to say anything regarding any of the information I've given you.

Actually, tomorrow I can jack up the B13 and compare.
