b14 se-r auto to manual swap
hey guys im having a hard figuring out the wiring part of the swap. Im using the auto ecu and harness and not wiring in a clutch inhibitor switch.

So at the moment i have 3 unused connectors on the auto engine harness.
1 is a 3 wire connector
1 is a 6 or an 8 wire connector
1 is a 4 or 6 wire connector

I have two sensors that i need to wire up on the trans.
1 is the reverse
1 * i think is the neutral position sensor

Ive looked at some wiring diagrams but im just not getting it, if some one has some help to offer id reeeeally appreciate it.

Here's a diagram I made for a Maxima guy but, it also worked for my B15 sentra when I did the manual swap.. The wiring colors may be different but the process is the same..

Basically what happens when you do the manual swap is that you won't be able to start the car because it has no way of knowing the if it is in neutral or park. An automatic car will not start in any other gear.

So here is a screenshot of the 2002-2003 Maxima FSM

Now looking at the harness from the automatic park neutral position switch, find the GREEN AND ORANGE wire and the BLACK wire. You will need to cut those as you will be splicing those to the harness for the manual tranny pnp switch as seen below:

The wires on your manual tranny PNP switch will most likely not be yellow so you will be matching the wire up by position.

Once you do this, put the car in neutral and try to start it.

If it doesn't start, try switching the two wires around.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1) When cutting the wires on the harness, leave atleast 2" of wire left on the harness if you need to reattach it for some reason.

2) The one thing I need to mention is that your car will start without you having to clutch in. HOWEVER, this is not a bad thing because the car will only start in neutral. If you try to start the car in any other gear, it's not going to start.

3) I HAVE done the same exact thing and it has worked on my Sentra. I matched the wires I spliced from my car to what is in the Maxima FSM. I have NOT tried this on a Maxima since I do not own one. You can double check all the info I have posted yourself before attempting and I accept no liability for any damages. I am nearly certain though that it will work the same way it did on my car.

and for reverse lights,

As you did in the other write up, look at the harness for the automatic park neutral/gear switch.

You will be working with the ORANGE and the GREEN AND WHITE wires.

Cut those wires from the automatic harness and splice them to the reverse harness on the manual tranny.

Then try it out, you should have reverse lights!

look in the factory service manual and match up the wires I highlighted in the posts to the wires for your specific vehicle..

Come on dude I'm not gonna do all the work for you LMAO.

Talk with Jensen (Jen36)

He's done the swap on his B13 4 door. I'd imagine that the wiring would be identical.

hi guys,

i've had a search and come across this thread and lookin to see if anyone can help me.

i have an n14 jdm pulsar, and have recently tried to convert it to manual using uk n15 parts. the mechanical side has gone fine, the clutch, fly, pedal box, shifter, linkages etc are all on ok.

Then it came to wiring the manual tranny into the auto harness. I have tried to follow the guide above and tried several methods. At first i tried just looping the PARK position wires to trick the car into always thinking it's in park,

then i wired the manual neutral sensor to the park position wires, but nothing seems to be working?!

My wiring is similar to this from a p10...

the box on the right, no.10 inhibitor switch was where i thought i needed to be looking, but the car just wont turn over.

I have the dash lights for PARK, NEUTRAL AND REVERSE all lighting up accordingly but the car just won't start.

Any ideas from anyone, is it possible that despite the dash lights indicating the car's in 'park' the ecu actually still thinks it's in gear? or is there any other problems that could be occurring?

i will just add i have only tried to turn the car over quickly, this is bad i know but my manual non lsd driveshafts haven't arrived in the post yet and as such there's no oil in the manual tranny. But as i say i just wanted to check it'd turn over - is there a sensor that would stop this with no transmission oil driveshafts present?

thanks for any help
