Thread: Manual Rack

well since ill be using my 95 as a semi track ride i wanted to get rid of the power steering...
but i have a few questions before i follow threw

1. Who has a non power rack in their B14?
2. What one did u use?(from what car)
3. How do you like it?

We had in the shop a striped down Lucino GSR. Motor was sold so we put int a Tsuru GA16DNE in, and a manual rack from a 2001 Tsuru. I was a PITA to drive and park in town, but very nice for highway cruising.

There are some B14's with manual steering ... very rare ... but they are out there .... Ratio probably would not be the best .. not sure on that though ...

I am running mine with the Power rack and gutted pump , just pulled the lines off the rack and moved the wheels back and forth to pump out as much fluid as I could , them looped the lines together .... works good on the track and the few times I have ran it on the street ...Just is a bunch more work if you need to parallel park ... Or if your making big power ( 200HP + ) its going to be tough on the track ... A friends 200SX I did ( 190whp ) hated it ... he could not turn it quick enough for the power the car had ...we put it back in ...

for the track with under 180 HP it works good ... for the street ... never ...My cousin has a base B14 with manual rack ... it feels identical to my looped power rack ...

ATSCO has the manual b14 racks reman #6840 for about $250

i removed the PS pump and got a shorter belt, i also removed all the lines and capped everything off and im still using the power rack but no PS,

It feels good, but parallele as mentioned is a pain

I'm using a manual rack in my NX. its not bad at all... Just isn't very fun with a steering wheel smaller than 14" or so... So in other words, the smaller momo's are a no go unless you have guns like me .
