Frustrated at the pick n pull (rant)
Went on down there to look for some interior parts for the P10. Foster/205 the same one I always go to.
Customer service has never been their strong suit and so the child behind the counter did the usual bs
'Hold on buddy I'll be with you in a minute. Now what year Fleetwood did you say again sir?'
I sign the clipboard with the waiver right in front of him. Right there, and I say; 'It's $2 right here you go'
'did you sign the thing'
'you just saw me sign in what did you think I was doing?'
'I need to check your bag... etc...
Usual bs about that I have a few screws and bolts in my bag.
'Oh my bad I see you clearly have an eye for the big issues here... '
So the cars were awful and generally not in line with whats posted online. They had been trashed because they spend all their time hassling paying customers checking bags and no time watching the yard. If you were going to steal from the yard would you put said item in your tool bag?
Anyway one P10 that was just a mess. Lots of 89-94 Maximas but nobody wants to pay for the MAFS anymore and I need a ~50-60% gross margin before I consider pulling a part. Found a J30 with a rear end hit N62 score. People don't want to pay for these anymore but I figure its worth $60-80. I usually give myself $15/hr plus the $25 for the MAF and core and then a $5 gas credit. The rest I consider actual economic profit and use for maintenance. Full disclosure I usually do pocket a few plastic bits and screws call me a thief but I spend considerable money too.
The woman at the register rings me up for a $54 MAF.
'Are you crazy this is usery, etc.' I explained politely.
'we are under new ownership.'
'You know my face. I've been here many times. This price is double there is no way it is worth that much to me.'
'Sorry new prices on everything.'
I can't even enjoy combing the bone yard on a lazy afternoon anymore. :o
