spoke with Delta Cams last week. they won't touch oem nissan cams. too difficult to weld properly do to pin holes in the casting. he DID say he could use the Kelfords as a base though. oh well, was worth a try

Web charges a lot to do mods to the VE cams. They will grind them down. Cheaper to buy Kelfords or send them specs you want and have them make them out of the billets they get.

update.

stock ve head: during the process of removing the oem valve guides (to replace with the supertechs) 1 of the guides came out with a bit of the aluminum head attached. fahk, now a guide will just fall through the hole. we've been trying to find some oversized (outside diameter) guides to fit with little luck. the machinist contacted supertech who told him he'd have to order 100! even though the guides are actually made larger then milled down by them (st) to the required size! so we're at a standstill on the oem head for now.
ported head: if you look closely at the pics on post #947 you'll see that the OVERSIZED intake valves left witness marks on the pistons. the 92mm cp pistons valve reliefs were never opened up to fit the bigger valves when the engine was first built! hmm, fahking genius!
so, my new machine shop is gonna fly cut the reliefs of the 87mm cp's after he clays the head/block. needless to say all the intake valves need replacing.
we're also gonna pressure test the head. of course i hope the head test's good. if the fahker is cracked, the sleeved block may be a keeper. more to come...
new pic. all 4 pistons are identically hit. here's 1

This thread is invaluable for people doing VE builds. Unfortunately you are having to fit the bill for the damages. Without you posting this though there would be many more people making costly mistakes.
