I'll take the daily reliability and masochism of N/A over the thrill and costly breakage of turbo anyday. Quite a few members have went back to N/A after turbo and have stayed N/A. Others went back to turbo after they couldn't get the thrill with no boost. Yeah N/A is an expensive challenge with minimal returns but some of us are content with 200+ whp and running in the 13s without the gas or the hair dryer. 5 hp can be a big plus if a fairly quiet 3" exhaust makes gains throughout the powerband.

The thing about N/A that makes it more reliable is that you're hard pressed to make any mistakes, and you're hard pressed to make any power. A turbo car can be reliable, it is just harder to do and more expensive, and we all know people don't like to do hard things, or spend a lot of money.

Here's the thing. I have a 2.5" exhaust on my VE right now. For me to go spend $300-$400 on a 3" exhaust to gain 3whp is ****ing absurd. The same goes with cams. You can go get a set of n1's for $400+ , or a set of sr16ve cams for $220, and the n1's make like what, 3-4whp more? Honestly, with the cams and exhaust, you're talking $600-$700 for a 6-7whp gain. It's not worth it to me. I'd rather spend that money on suspension stuff where it will make a much larger difference with the way the car feels.

Yes, 3" exhaust is better than a 2.5" exhaust. If i were to do it again, i would have gone 3" in the first place. But now i have a nice 2.5" exhaust, i'm not switching.

Outstanding observation. If you are stock and adding a VE, when you upgrade your exhaust go 3". If you already have a 2.5", keep it.

yep if you have 2.5 then stay with it.
cams are a different matter, n1's are a proven 20whp gain over std sr20ve cams..

Yes i agree. But dollar for dollar, the regular sr16ve cams are the way to go. I'm trying to build a quick VE setup for not too much money. So i bought the sr16ve non-n1 cams because they were more cost effective for what i want.

16ve cams: ~200 for ~10whp
n1 cams: ~400 for ~20whp

just depends what your budget is and what gains you want to make i guess. Options for everyone

sr16ve cams make more like 15whp, maybe even a tiny bit more.
