Whats the price point for all of this stuff put together? Call me lazy if you will but I don't know tranny prices like some others.

A 4.44 Ring and pinion is $365 shipped.

If I get a SR16VE gear box I will sell the ring and pinion out of it for $265 shipped.

Now the job required you unbolt the ring gear and put the new on on. The you have to take out the Pion shaft that has 3 gears on it. You will have to press those 3 gears off and press them on to the new pinion gear.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SR16VE has 4.444 FD
1. 3.333---14.788
2. 1.955---8.674
3. 1.333---5.914
4. 0.975---4.326
5. 0.756---3.354

SER has 4.176 FD
1. 3.063---12.791
2. 1.826---7.625
3. 1.286---5.370
4. 0.975---4.072
5. 0.756---3.157

The gear box combination of SER gears with SR16VE 4.44 final drive should be the best box for most 2L VE guys. I want you guys also to take a look at the gear spacing on the box below it is far superior to the gear boxes above. The big problem with the SR16VE box is when you get into forth you are in a dead spot for a while and then you start to go again. This will not happen with the box below. Plus you get beter traction than the SR16VE box out the hole.

SER with SR16VE 4.444 FD
1. 3.063---13.612
2. 1.826---8.115
3. 1.286---5.715
4. 0.975---4.326
5. 0.756---3.354

The man is correct, we both gave our thoughts on the 16VE tranny. We each said the same thing as far as traction/4th gear.

I am curious...
I wish we had all the trannys listed in a car that way we would know the RPM at say 80MPH. I believe the guy in this thread said the Sr16 tranny at 80mph was at 4100 rpm. I wonder what RPM the motor would be turning with the longest 5th possible??
Is there any way to figure this out? It would be worth me taking an SER tranny apart and putting a 91-93 g20 5th in it as I drive my car on the highway 90% of the time. I hope this all makes sense Miko it is hard to talk on the same level as you.

, isn't the 6-speed specV swap supposed to accomplish this as well.

shorter gears for 1-3 (maybe 4) with longer gears in 5th and 6th for highway and better, i believe that was an original thought, correct Andreas?

Andreas, do you have a line on a SR16VE gearbox? I would like to rob the FD and gearset from it for our race car.
