Even if you make a custom setup to make it all work, it will still technically fail if the technician knows anything about anything. Any modifications to OEM parts is prohibited without a CARB sticker approving it, same goes for ANY aftermarket modification in the engine bay. If you live in CA there are three ways to get by smog. Pay someone off (very illegal, so I don't recommend this), do what @zeneffect said (I know plenty of people who have), or move out of the state (what I did!), ha ha.
