Thread: Oil pressure higher than a giraffe's ass

I just the remainder of my guages hooked up, and notice that the oil pressure gauge is pegging out at 150psi when I'm beating on the car, around 7000rpm its pegged out. Idle pressure is good, around 30psi, cruising on the freeway between 3-4k is usually between 60-90psi.
These are VDO electric gauges that came with the car. I usually prefer mechanical gauges, but these were here, so whatever. Is it possible I have the wrong sender? Its attached using an oil filter sandwich plate. The plate is leaking a little bit, which I will fix at the next oil change, bit if anything I would expect lower pressure with the leak. Running 15w20 mobil1.

that oil pressure seems in line with a lot of us are seeing.

20-25psi warm idle
60psi cruising
100+psi cold start

Awesome. I've had low pressure issues on the turbo car, and mainly use the oil pressure gauge to make sure pressure isn't too low. Never had an issue with it being too high for my taste.
