jmr header is not of the best for the ve and why the hell are you taking it to a shop that has never ever seen the motor in their life and asked you for information?

i doubt the insurance will cover you popping the motor cause they can just say you dont know how to drive or didnt check the oil which could most definitely be the case

Was it this guy that towed your car? If it was, you have a case.

They need an "official" estimate from an actual mechanic for the damages to be written up. I can't just say to them "well this is broken, this needs to be replaced" etc. Needs to be in writing, they won't just take my word for it. Probably only 2% of all shops in the U.S. have ever seen an SR20VE so it's not that hard to believe, hell half of them don't even know the Sentra came with a 2.0, they see so many 1.6's

I changed the oil with 4 quarts of Valvoline 10W-30 synthetic & Nissan filter in mid-May, which was like a week or so before the start up issue and then it wasn't started all the way until last weekend. I rarely went more than 2,500 miles between changes. And isn't the JMR header at least in the top 3 NA VE headers besides custom ones?

Thanks, I'll write him. I see you're in Allentown, I'm like 25 minutes from you. I've only ever seen one modified SR20 driving around, a teal B14 w/ big FMIC in Bethlehem but that's it, besides the guys I already know in the area.

I just read this entire thread and this is exactly what popped into my head when I saw the pics. I'd put that car up in the air as high as I could get it and check the entire undercarriage, check tires/wheel for damage too.

Yep they had it all the way up, I was walking under it. We looked hard and nothing else was found except the small dent in the muffler. wheels/tires look good. When rolled it outside pushed down on each corner w/ the coilovers set on softest setting and felt normal. All the damage is confined to the front passenger side of the car, except for the crossmember where theres a bit on the driver's side. I also thought about someone messing around with it too, but don't think that happened b/c it sat for so long, until last Saturday without starting. And although I was gone for about 12 days out on the road I took my keys.

Good, glad to hear it. I'm hoping this works out in your favor.

and they will have to fix it since they preformed the estimate? I'm not sure how your insurance works or things like this but best of luck. really tough thing to prove you didnt drive it and fuck it up when that long of a time passed

They don't have to nor do I think they want to. But they were nice enough to help me out and get me it in writing. Never said it was going to be easy but I know for certain I didn't do that to the vehicle, and no one else (to the very best of my knowledge) has driven it in at least a year, and the only other explanation is one of the tow trucks.

so now you towed it to a garage to get an estimate?

So just before I dropped the pan, here's a couple pics:
.

.

.
That's after I cleaned it off with a rag..
.
Pulled the baffle and pickup out to look at it better. From under the car in the garage I couldn't see anything wrong, in that light everything but the pan itself looked OK. Then I removed the two 12mm bolts and dropped the pickup and brought it into the light, I saw something:
.
.
.

.

.

.
piece turned around:
.

.
.
The piece is the same texture/look as the pickup one side, rough texture on the other. It was jammed in there. I don't know, that enough to cause a significant drop in oil pressure? The baffle is OK. It took me a few minutes to carefully get the piece out of there with the pliers without damaging the screen on the pickup. Damn
