That's crazy!! You could do a VE swap and boost it for that much. I have a friend with a '90 300ZX and he wanted to start the whole crew.. I was in until I saw the prices of the gear. A $250 helmet is one thing, a $600 fireproof suit is another - and me and 3 other friends/acquaintances had to all pitch in for the cage. I told him sorry but I couldn't see spending that kinda dough when I could put it into my own actual car.

Yes, you could do a lot with that money to your DD, but think of what you get in return. Full on wheel to wheel racing, with no cops or tickets, or insurance to worry about. You go out there and push the car to it's limits. I've completely stopped spending money on my DD outside of regular maintenance, and honestly I prefer it that way.

As for this thread, thanks everyone for the input. We've decided that staying with a DE is an option that makes far more sense.

Oh not putting it down at all, I'd love to participate. I was just sad to see how much the gear was.

BTW since this thread is about a VE running on a DE ECU, I think this part is leftover from the DE. I need a new one of these male plugs, it's hooks up with the female harness coming off the distributor on my VE (well its really the DE dist.) and it's 4 pins and it's f'ed up. Anyone got one?

Here is the female part of the plug:

And another of me holding the plug showing you where it leads to (wiring):

sorry to dont mean to hijack thread I just don't feel like going to another pull it yard thought maybe someone has one lying around

If you want low budget then get the VE, use all the DE stuff you have now for it and juat get a stepdown $100-$200 with a JKtuning ecu tuned for your VVL setup for like $175? And be done.

If you use DE ecu on a VE motor there is a limit or the revving only at 8000rpm.

What did you do with that?

^^^

i personally only rev my stock ve heads to 8000rpm

that being said...

valve floating can occur anywhere from 7400rpm and up.

most of the cheap headers we buy dont flow very well after 8000rpm either.

The only thing you need to change is the MAF and coolant temp sensor. These have to match the ECU.

I just swapped in a VE into my 02 sport. Coolant temp sensor was the same so I didn't touch that... Car runs fine? Coolant temp reads.

No check engine light either?

I think the coolant temp sensor needing to be swapped is just a popular myth. I didn't change mine and never had problems. All it is, is a temp dependent resistor anyway. There's no "jdm" temp sensor or anything to my knowledge.

Bad advice right here. I took a multimeter and measured the resistance at room temperature on both sensors. There was a VERY big Δ-R..

What 2 sensors did you test?

I'm not doubting, I'm looking for input on this.
