ve-t choking in boost when hits vvl
ANyone every have this problem. Im not sure of my a/r's across the board. Dont even know if its a fuel issue or some sort of electronic issue. I can gun it in any gear and sometimes its smooth and most times its like its missing horribly like your hitting a rev limitier. Im no tuning expert and maybe thats what i need for it not to do this, but i dont think its just a coincidence that it happens only RIGHT when I hit the cam switch. I cleaned the screen in the selonoids, used a thicker wire for the signal and all that, used a good ground, but im not sure what the problem is now. I know im running maybe a bit lean but hell i dont even know that now, i need some sort of wideband.

It is intermittent, but happens more often then not. It also will catch power and vvl real smooth and then at like b/t 5600 and 7000 it will repeatedly cut out and drag real hard.

Any ideas?

what are you using to engage the vvl?

He's using the 8969. It's not the signal cutting out, it's a missfire for sure.

Ground and power source? Could be introducing noise to ecu if on same plane.

/spent all day in room for esd and emi testing

Power is coming from o2 sensor harness, ground is one of the nuts on the strut tower (paint was sanded off). Been a long time since I've seen the car but there are prolly some vacuum leaks. I don't remember the plugs looking bad either, and they were gapped to around .022-.025 IIRC

Sounds like fun Nathan, I figured you were getting your ass kicked in austin since I havent heard from you in a few days, now I know it's just cause I'm white

you running a log manifold? or tubular? My car had the same bogging problem with the log mani and the stock cams. VVL = no power.

Hopefully it is just a missfire, but make sure you are not detonating.

Also make sure there are no boost leaks. It could be coincidence that it does it when you hit vvl, but if there is a boost leak it will cause the car to buck and miss. Also it sometimes will feel like you hit a rev limiter.

Hope this helps. Good luck and let me know how well the VVL works for you when you get it straightened out.

It is a log mani. Last time I looked at his plugs, I saw no signs of detonation, but this was a while back. I'm sure there is a leak somewhere. Aaron, you need to get yourself a compressor. You have a house, that should be the first thing on the list! If not, take it to Gotham or somewhere and have them smoke it.

i think i just need the right plugs and maybe injectors might be leaky or somthing, im going to start tracking down some things it could be. thanks all.

log manifolds cause reversion on the sr20ve cams. I went with the VET cams to solve the problem. But maybe that is the issue???
