Engine tosses or shreds belts
Hey guys,

I took my car to the track last weekend and after 3-4 laps I lost both belts (alternator/AC and water pump/steering belt). After replacing them to take the car back home I ended up with just the water pump/steering belt (luckily).
Could it be a somewhat bent/twisted pulley? jammed AC pulley? alignment problem?

All my pulleys are stock VE ones. Here is my setup currently redlining at 8800rpm, stock VE with Kelford 184c cams and S/R, lightened stock DE flywheel, nismotronic SA.

Any thoughts? Do I need an ATI super dumper for this kind of rpm?

id def make sure all the pulleys spin true and make sure the belts are properly tensioned.

Likely cause: Crank pulley harmonic balancer failure.

I came across this same problem on an X-Trail GT (SR20VET), someone installed a DE crank pulley.

I do have a spare VE crank pulley laying around... I was wondering, how do I know that my current pulley is broken? should it have physical damage somewhere in particular?

well both belts have one thing in common that being the crank pulley so def start there if you have a spare

Also, if it helps figure things out, I lost the belts while taking a turn after a long straight.. I'm thinking the added stress on the steering pump pulley added with something else may be related

Try the G-Spec underdrive crank pulley. May free up 1-2 HP as well.

Is that suitable for high rpm applications? I fear it will unbalance the crank assembly :/

I've had both the G-spec underdrive crank and water pump pulley for 2 years in my car and hit 8200RPM like, at least every time I drive the car (hibernating for now but usually once a week) and never had a problem
