Thread: help with trying to pass emissions

Hi guys, I have a 97b14 with a 96 wire harness and a vvl recently installed. No issues with the swap. just trying to figure out how to eliminate the one ecu code I have left. It is the EGR Solenoid valve circuit (EGR & EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve is open or shorted). What can I do to get rid of this code? thanks for your help!!

Nemu. You can turn off all codes.

Actually, you can just plug in your solenoid a zip tie it up. Code should go out.

Nemu is only OBD1, the OP car is OBD2.

That will not work because the OP is trying to pass emission. The title to this thread is "trying to pass emission".

Emission testing OBD2 cars require the technician hooking up the scanner to read any fault codes. What happens when the scanner shows there is no crank position sensors, rear o2, and air temp sensor when you use a obd1 ecu? You will fail.

"passing emission" in you state is not the same as passing emissions in my state. We dont know where OP is, I live in va. Here emissions check is a visual check under the hood and look to see if the check engine light is on. That is "passing emissions" in Virginia.
