sr16 piston questions
what exactly is needed to run sr16 pistons (non n1) in a 2.0. i read somewhere that the skirt may need to be shaved down to clear the oil squirter but no definate anwsers.
also will these be safe to run with n1 cams?
if for some reason they need to be shaved down only because of the oil squirter then they should be a basic drop in for a de right?
Thanks!!!

I am confused but we shall try. This is the VE section.

You can put SR16VE non N1 pistons in but they need notched in a VE engine.

You can put SR16VE non N1 pistons in an SR20DE engine.

Correct. It will drop right into a DE. Don't waste the time man. Invest another couple hundred and get CP's.

I vote for JE pistons, the skirt design is quite pleasant for off-the-shelf pistons!

Notch the pistons as in for the valve reliefs or notch the pistons skirt for oil squirter clearance? DE has no oil squirters so no notching for the skirt.

If you put them in a DE (which doesn't have oil squirters), you will not need to notch the skirt. No modifications are necessary to the valve reliefs. Drop them in and go. I recommend upgrading valve springs/retainers.
