Some of the cleanest blocks I've seen are RP (Royal Purple) blocks FWIW. You definitely are using too heavy of an oil IMO - but sometimes changing things that an engine likes is the beginning to more issues.

I've seen sludged motors run really strong. Run some Marvel mystery oil and use 1000mile oil change interval or run some ATF and change oil after 20 minutes but aggressively cleaning it up might just fuck your shit up. Unless you tear the motor down there's not a lot to do.... compression test, leakdown, and pop the upper oil pan to check your rod and main bearings.

Honestly if its running good (MPG/power) leave it alone and enjoy the ride.

run a diesel engine oil. they have a higher detergent content and will clean it faster. but dont run for ever on it.

I can vouch for this! I bought Bgreen's old red NX, and the motor is probably just as bad, but it pulls like a raped ape!


that was my old ve i swapped in there and it was the best ve i ever had

HA !! that car is a Forum Whore!! It now resides in TX whooping some Honda ASS! No one has a clue what kind of car it is, and I have had three people ask "Where Is Marsh tuning? "
