20V VVL solenoid on a P11 VE?
Hello,
Would anyone happen to be able to tell me if the 20V VVL solenoid is a direct bolt-on onto a P11 head, and if it would work properly when wired up?
I assume it could only switch both cams at the same time, but that is not an issue for me.
Thank you for any input.

Lay the gasket over both. It looks like it should work, no problem.

Your correct, both will switch at the same time.

It will work, but it needs mashining work.

Negative.

Positive.

The 20V solenoid will need to be machined out to flow oil to the intake rocker lockers.
If you don't do this you will only have e-vtec. And that's just no fun.

The 20V solenoid block will work on SR20VE head. Both intake and exhaust cam will activate at the same time. The oil supply holes match up, no machining is required.

The only thing that is different is the oil return hole. The 20V solenoid block does not have the recess cut to return the oil on the 20VE head. Is this good or bad? I don't know but the factory design the oil to return. Machining is required if you want the oil to return.

Phwoar! Where were you to label that photo when I was running my 20V solenoid?!? Haha. From all I had read here and on the Silvia forums, that "return" hole was actually the oil supply hole and needed to be machined out for intake cam to work.
You're 100% that it's oil return not feed?

It is the purge/return line, at least according to the VVL relocation kits.

So if I have the 20V oil return opening machined to match the shape of the P11 one, it should work, correct?
Now I just need to find a 20V solenoid.

Yeah get it machined and it will definitely work, what I want to know is will it work without machining?? Does anyone know?

The P11 solenoids would probably work on a P12 head without machining, but unfortunately it seems that it would not work the other way around.
