Dremel cutoff wheel. Nothing special even the little ones. You could also buy a $2 hacksaw and a few hand cramps later you'd be good to go.

I cut it with a hacksaw. When Im done the dist can still bolt up to a DE with 2 bolts and clear the VE and bolt up with on bolt. I will post up a pic later on what I do.

You can cut the lower leg off but the best way to do it is to just notch out the section that hits the hump on the VE head. By doing it this way, you can use it for a VE application and it still maintains full functionality on a DE.

I held the dizzy in my left hand and the angle grinder in my right hand and went to work. The safer option would be to put the dizzy in a vice and have both hands on the grinder. Eye protection is a good idea and a face mask is also an option if you don't want to breath in the metal dust.

Here is how I modified mine:

If you do decide to cut off the lower leg/ear, make sure you don't cut off too much. If you do, you will have small holes in the distributor and it will leak oil. You will then need to have new material welded on.

I believe notching out it is a much better option than completely cutting off the lower ear/leg.
