'Bearing' type noise after VE swap. Help!
Hello everyone. Ever since my VE swap into my '99 SE-L I get this higher pitch 'bearing-going-bad' or belt squeal type noise that starts at about 4k rpms. The noise continues all the way to redline. I thought at first it was the power steering/water pump belt, but I changed that out to no avail.

Here are some facts and things that can be ruled out:

-I changed the power steering belt.
-I changed the water pump.
-The noise is still present with the alt/ac belt removed; so the rules them out.
-The noise goes away with the pwr str/water pump belt removed.
-I don't think it's the power steering pump since it didn't do it before the swap.

But here's the kicker, the noise disappears when I move the air mix door position from cold to warm. In fact, if I move the air mix door just 2-3 notches to the right, from full cold, the noise goes away. I checked the FSM to see if there is some kind of water valve for the heater core that opens, but I don't see one. No other a/c or heater position functions or switches affect the noise.

So to me, the noise seems to be water flow or heater core related. I'm pretty sure that I have the heater core plumbed the right way. The bottom heater core connection goes straight to the outlet on the engine, and the top heater core connection goes to the connection under the throttle body.

This problem has me stumped and has kind of put a bummer on the whole swap. If anyone has any ideas please chime in!

Try bleeding your coolant system again. This time though, roll the car up on ramps and then modify a spare radiator cap so that it is alway on bypass to the reservoir. Then top off your reservoir.

Ok, I'll try that again tonight. Thanks

does it sound like this? its audible on overrun.

Ive changed, my PS pump, alternator, new belts, chain tensioner all sorts, nothing has solved it.

@Sam No, the noise doesn't sound like that. It's more like a screeching sound (like a loose belt), and it doesn't have to be under load. I can duplicate it revving and holding it above 4500 rpms.
@THOR I don't think it's cam or oil related. The noise will go away completely if I have the air temp door turned to heat. If bleeding the coolant system again doesn't fix it, I'll try to make a video of it. Thanks!

Maybe the blend door or something is loose in there. Did u pull the whole engine harness out of the car when u did the swap?

No, Harness stayed in the car - I just unplugged the sensors. I tried bleeding the coolant system again by jacking up the front end, funnel connected to radiator, heat on full blast, etc - no change, noise is still there. I think I will try pinching off the heater core lines and see if that makes a difference. I'm wondering if the VE motor I swapped in had some funk in the coolant system that may be lodged in the heater core.
