head swap question
im doing a head swap on my de and the ve head has a spot for one of the heater hoses on the back above the oil filter. but my car "b14" has them both going to the water pipe. what is the correct way to fix this? i was thinking of pluging the one on the head?

also im assuming everyone is using the b15 oil filter housing. since the b13/14 wont fit with the head?

also will a 180deg thermostat be ok

all the questions so far. may have more when i get furhter along. so far i have the n1 pistons installed on the stock rods with acl race rods. ve pump is next. i would start a build thread but i think alot of people have done this allready.

The tube on the passenger side of the engine, below the intake, goes to the heater core. You will need about an 8" piece of hose. You need to remove the curved hose from the firewall. The other hose goes to the water tube.

I found it easier to use the ve water tube. It makes it easier if you need to drill the head and run a oil line for the cams. Sealti can get them fairly cheap.

Re: head swap question
But both of the heater hoses goto the water tube now. Would it be better u just cap the one under the intake ?

Do you think it will be ok to just cut the braket off the water tube where the oil feed for the head will be?. I have a rr water tube I'm gonna look at it tonight and see if its any better

If I am not mistaken, I believe the ve water tube has to be used. I tried fitting the water tube from my p11 (non rr) and it would not line up right.

But, what I did was cut off the tab on the water neck where it bolts to the head. This allowed the oil fitting and oil line the clearance it needs. Then I ran a short 8" water line from the tube that comes off of the back of the head, directly to the firewall for the heater core, I believe it is the lower one. The other hose hooked up like normal with the ve water neck.

If you want to use a different water tube than the ve, I would suggest some research or contact Miko and ask him. Other wise, it may just take some trial and error to get a de water tube to work.
