Help me not buy a Foxbody Mustang lol
So I'm on the market for another street rod and am really leaning towards a Fox Body 5.0 Mustang Notchback. However I once owned a B13 vvl with Calum Rt ecu and was happy with it for a while but got bored. That being said, I'm kinda stuck between the tell because I've always liked the sound of a healthy 5.0. I want something that would be able to run 12's or low 13's and that doesn't sound all obnoxiously loud at idle.

So the question is what all would I need to do to a ve to be able to run these types of times? It'd be either b13 or b14.

Put it on the bottle for simplicity. But to get into the 12s I feel(I could be wrong) but just a little more than bolt-ons and a weight reduction.

Don't buy it because they are hard to find in good condition, all the ones I see are rusted and blowing oil out the exhaust. Unless you plan on re-doing the whole thing.

So a ve with n1's and possibly a stroker kit won't do it?

A stock longblock sr20ve with the proper combination of bolt ons and N1 cams will run 12's. Weight reduction will send you deeper into the 12's. I don't know what guys spend money on their cars sometimes. Spend the money on a proper intake manifold, mfactory 4.7 final drive, and header first. I would do that before any other mod.

once you get the vvl modded up and you find a 5.0 and beat the crap out of him, you'll love every minute of owning a ve!!!!!
just dont find one that is too modded up cause you might get smoked :-(

Lol, the maj. 5.0 around here prob run in the 13's so as long as I can shut the maj cars down all motor, I'd be happy
And Nismo94tuner, ill take your advice. What header and intake though?

Custom. Expect to spend money. I am on the edge of selling my custom intake manifold. If money is an issue, I think you would be happier with the results of a T25 kit. The N/A game gets expensive, very quickly.

I'm thinking about $1500. Should cover the headers intake and cams or am I way off?

Well, depends who can build you a properly spec'd header for the 2.0. I just had a custom header built for my motor that ran me about 1,500.

You can sometimes luck out and find a decent 4-1 header for 500 bucks or so. N1 cams usually run for 400 used. A custom intake manifold will cost around the 1,000$ range. Don't bother with the one on ebay. They do not support the air the VE head wants.
