I disconnected the stock setup and installed a MSD window switch 8969 and loving it.My switch point is at 5100 rpm and it pulls hard..

im not sure why the VVL switch to 6200rpm when youre not using some external triggers..very late

that is very late with a 7200rpm rev limit. I thought they kicked in sooner.

I think this may be related to the fact that the switch is based on speed and not rpm signal, if you rev it standing still it won't activate.

I know because I just did a swap and used the VE ECU.

Now I'm trying to use my current wiring with an ebay vtec controller and it won't work. I was told vtec activates with 12v as opposed to Neo VVL that does it with ground so I may need to modify my current wiring :/

not a big deal. I would just run a external relay off the vtec controller that uses a 12 volt trigger and supplies a ground signal out put.

Thanks.

The pin you choose for 12v or ground doesn't matter, works both ways. In my case I wired both directly to the battery for the 12 volts and then wired through the firewall for the ground activation.

As I have mentioned before, always put a pair of leds or something in between to know if the signal is going through or not. Makes troubleshooting so much easier.

REV LIMIT
im having the same issues with my rev limit at 7200rpm
i had a nissan pulsar gti N14 with a sr18de auto in it

i have installed with a sr16ve with a manual bt using the same wiring bt with external wiring from the ecu for the vvl
vvl range from 6200 to 7200rpm

using 4 H sr16ve ecu

Yup, people often forget to do that. It gives them a hard time.
