Not a good thing to have your fans running constant. Wears the fan motor fast. Can even affect performance.

Peace

my det is in an nx....terrible air flow....i will over heat without both fans and the relay is unreliable...possable the wiring....i'll find out soon enough.
10-15 mins at idle and shes at temp......like 5 mins of driving.....stays near 180 in city type driving.
my setup NEEDS some changes and they are coming....my turbo is like 2 inches from the fans and my fmic is too close to the radiator....i get WICKED heat soak.....prolly gonna cut the core support and fab some mounts for the bumper and try to slightly "V" mount my fmic and upgrade the radiator and fans.
don't care if fans die soon....going away anyway....LOL

could be broken coolant hose under the intake manifold. I have fallen victim to this.

On a side note, a good way to "burp" the system is to modify an old/extra radiator cap (to keep the diaphragm open) like I did in the pic below. I've found that not all the air gets out when using the burping screw next to the thermostat. After a radiator flush, when there is most likely air in the system, install the modified cap and make sure to fill the overflow tank. Run it up to temp then turn it off. Simple as that. It will burp itself...sucks it right out of the overflow tank...just make sure to keep the over flow tank full.

Re: VVL coolant boiling over
My mechanic taught me that method ^^^^

Such an easy way to get the air out of the system.

Yep, thanks guys for all the suggestions. I haven't started the car up since it's been covered in snow and too cold and its my weekend/track car anyway. I'm 98 percent sure its the fan not coming on, since I can drive it for an hour and it's fine, and this car seems to have "caught" my B14's problem of the stock temp needle showing cold when throttle is applied, and then going up to normal operating temp when in neutral or coasting. I believe this is the temp sending unit but I haven't narrowed it down. It's so bizarre that both my SR20's do this. I have a video of it somewhere.

I did install those thermal intake spacers earlier though that you guys always talk about, although no relation to the coolant problem, just had them for awhile and meant to do it.

if its the temp sending unit, unplug it if the fans turn on, you may need a new switch. note: that is indeed if your car is up to fan temp.... seeing that your area is cold and all.

Yep, it's snowed here everyday for the last week. EVERY DAY. But only like a half inch each time or less. Hasn't been above freezing all week.

Pic of both the B13 & B14 from the other night:

poor little cars I have a car cover for the B13 but I only put it on when the car is just cleaned and I haven't driven it in a week
