Thanks for all the help the bearings have no play. I ripped apart the engine and install stock pistons and rods. Removed the oil squirter and new oem bearings for the sr20de.

Installed new gasket, torqued head, installed new tensioner.

All done with assembly lube.

Rotated the engine by hand, checked timing, then turned engine over.

The engine makes the same knock sound. With the intake and parts off it sounds more like it's coming from the transmission area.

Next step is to remove the trans and inspect.

Keep the ideas coming

with that much engine movement during cranking... are all the mounts good?

also, i imagine that much cranking with no oil pressure is bad on all the bearings

Pulled the lower and upper pans.
Needed to remove the rear and front mount.

ALL! I have great news! The issue was the flywheel bolts.

Even tho I added thread lock, they worked there way out.

After looking closely, the bolts only go past the flywheel 1/4 of the way.

Is there a difference between automatic and manual sr20 flywheel bolts?

All my measurements were correct,it's just the bolts backed off!

I'm Sooo happy! Thanks EVERYONE
