Well...back to square one! the noise went away for a while then came back.

All the rods/pistons make the same noise when there is compression or engine movement.

for example, I remove all spark plugs and crank over-no knock. If I install spark plugs (add pressure) the engine makes the metallic knock.


.020mm are the main bearings measuring with plastigauge.

something loose?

This is the case for all 4 cylinders.

Are using the same crank? I thought you were going to use new rods and pistons?.

I used the stock VE rods and pistons.
I wanted to make sure that was my issue first.

Do you mean .020in or .002in because the high limit on FSM is .0018 so anything above that its loose!!

Sounds like bad piston to wall clearance.

PM sent, you'd hear piston to wall clearance on start up but once it's warmed up it usually goes away, you really should only have to do like 5 seconds of actual honing to get a new surface if the cylinder was good, and you gotta move the hone up and down quick so you can get the cross hatch angle that seats the rings quick.
