It really is old technology. I mean if it were 12 years ago maybe. But your sooo much better off just getting a chipped ecu. You still wont be able to touch the timing map...

It will work but it is a rather crude way comparatively by today's standards.

I used it with a stock ECU and a JWT ECU and it does work to take out fuel or add fuel if needed. I had mine taking out fuel during WOT, above 4,000 RPM during stock ECU, it would dump fuel and go pig rich.

You can make blanket, across-the-board timing increases with a turn of the distributor.

If you get a different MAF, you can program the SAFC to adjust for the input of the different MAF. (trust me, I tried it and it does not work as well as having the ECU programmed correctly as it should be)

I currently have the apexi neo afc on my b14 ve. I like it due to it being simple and easy to use, no to mention the gauge display that had volts, rpm, throttle pos, VVL adjustabilty on the fly, etc. I plan on getting Nistune or something similar in the future when i get n1's though. Here's a pic of my very 1st dyno run @ osr in hesperia(at that time). Mods were intake, header(ssac)2 1/2" cat back with cat, alt,pwr steering, and water pump pulleys, de maf, stock b14 ecu, flywheel.

My most recent setup includes the apexi neo afc tuned by Reggie at OSR(now in fontana) and Gspec crank pulley, test pipe(cat delete), 3" cat back, port matched n polished intake mani., stock p10 ecu, and n60 maf.

I got like 10 vids on youtube of my car beating everything from a b16 vtec to hemi rams, jdm h23 vtec, b20 high compression, b20v, and even a turbo scion haha. So i would say it does pretty good against some other tuned cars.
check out the vids here kid200sx's channel - YouTube
