greddy mss+heat=malfunction?
In the morning my vvl snaps just fine (75-80deg).... After work it does not work and yesterday the mss was actually making a high pitch beep sound. Its about 100+ when this happens. Only has made the sound once. Its not wired up the best way it could be but does function fine when its less then 95 or so.

Does this ever happen to anyone else? Im thinking its the mss and not the actual engine or selonoids. I dont want to replace the mss and then it doesnt fix the problem.

Are your solenoids leaking oil? Do you see oil around the top of the solenoids by the plug?

The only real way to diagnos the problem is to re-wire the MSS so that there is no chance it is the issue. Eliminate this from the equation and go from there. Make sure you have a good/clean ground and your wire connections are good as well.

I'm not too familiar with the MSS but I was just reding that it can control the fans. Do you have this wired up? I read that there is a temperature setting in the unit that can be wired up for kicking on the fans at a certain temp. Maybe the default setting is 100*? I read that the unit will beep when this (whatever it's set for) temp. is reached. I wonder if your unit is seeing this temp and output power to the solenoids is being cut as a safety percaution? Just a guess.

Check what rpm your warning light/beep is set at. If you messed with the mode settings and the knob you may have lowered the warning signal.

It says 750 for the warn amd my two settings are for 525... No oil around the selonoids... They are not wired to the fan.

If push comes to shove you can come borrow the MSD off the SE-R.
Nemu will be switch for the NX and the SE-R is a long way from running, sadly.

ok, well my theory is out because it worked ONCE on the way home, when I was turning hard and pulled out infront of a car that I didnt see, so I had to gun it, and they kicked in... but the rest of the way, nothing.

Shit sucks, im going to have to rip it out and start over I think. This should have been done right to begin with. I am sure its wired correctly, just sloppy as hell.

Maybe "somehow" a wire was loose and managed to disconnect itself?

The MSS is pretty tough, I had a problem with my wiring on mine one time. The power n ground were rubbing on the gas pedal and proceeded to short out. Smoke filling the cabin and the wtf moment. Fixed the wires and it's worked great since.
