Just reposting this since the conversation moved on before it was approved. Not trying to thread jack just figured there wasn't much point of starting yet another topic on the same subject when the info could help both the OP and myself.
Glad I found the dash forum, the non-dash version has so much out of date information I feel like I've wasting a ton of time searching just to find stuff that's no longer available (like Calum), etc.
I might be doing a swap soon too, got a few free SE-R's (well in exchange for working on the owners other car, one is a Mexican Domestic Market 1993 2000 GSR, the other is a 96 200SX SE-R). The 96 needs a starter at least and an AC compressor IIRC. The MDM SE-R is gutted, cut wiring harness, but has a good DE and good trans.
Anyways, to avoid starting a new topic I just want to make sure I have everything correct for budgeting (to determine if I want to do this or just part the cars out and junk the shells).
Basically to put everything in the 96:
VE engine
DE trans
Clutch is already replaced with a stronger unit (ACT IIRC) and has a lightweight flywheel
DE wiring harness
DE distributor (cut off bottom) or rewire harness for VE dist?
DE, VE or 95-99 Maxima MAF, as long as ECU is setup for it
SSAC header (unless those VE specific headers I heard about many years ago actually got produced)
JWT chipped ECU, or Nistune? Or standalone?
MSD digital RPM switch since greddy MSS is disco'd, unless running a standalone of course or unless some other chipped ECUs can control it.
New hose, or adapters? for heater core hoses
All DE accessories (ps/alt/ac comp)
I do have a VAFC sitting around somewhere (old school one), would that actually work if a relay was wired it?
That all sound right? Sounds like about $1,500 in parts?
Might be a fun DD/track beater to save use and money on my other cars.
