Thanks for the info.

Most of what was mentioned was in the original plan, but as with every swap I have done in my life things Chane. This is the first engine I have not done a rebuild on though. As long as it makes it 12 months I should be good with doing the minimum.

Thanks again for the input.

when i bought mine from Miko, all i did was do the swap as per the old forum. no probs at all. maybe i got lucky. if i were to do the swap today i'd do it different though....
replace the fr/rr main seals, rod bearings with acl's, and replace the "behind the motor" large coolant hoses.
think of it this way....if you don't want to do it with the engine installed, do it now.

Do you mean rod bearings? If I was doin the mains I might as well do a whole rebuild.

If i were you , i will replace these part for troublefree..

1) Coolant lines
2) Thermostat
3) Main seal ( both pulley and flywheel )
4) Valve cover seal ( all ), Including the distributor o-ring

Unless your engine got some sort of disease or something, you should able to abuse it for 3 - 5 years without any issue

200hp daily drive ?
swap in a set of N1 cam with spring, after market header +3" down pipe, standalone management if you have additional budget ...

That's all

I'd love to see JWT come out with a new VE cam grind that makes a significant more amount of power than the N1's.

I called them (again - they may be getting sick of me) a few weeks ago to inquire but they didnt know when they would be available. If we're talking at least a 10-15peak hp gain over the N1's, I'd get them in second. Not out of the question as the JWT original street grind cams (i guess the S1 cams) for the DE made 6-8hp and then several years later they had the S4 cams out making about 20hp peak. And then there's the C cams with springs making 28 or so at peak as well (on well modded but NA setups)

I'd like to see JWT make a grind that can be used on top of the aftermarket valve springs many of us VE guys had installed to handle the N1 cams. (i.e. - Supertech)

Check the oil pickup in the pan. Even a Miko motor shows up with crud blocking the screen. Mine did anyway.

Not knocking anything BTW, just saying you gotta check that stuff before you wreck that stuff.

Actually that's about the one thing that is questionable. Like most importers the engine was sitting on the floor so I have to take the oil pan off to bang out the dents.
