Or just the rods on the SR16 crank?

SR16 and SR20 cranks have different strokes (obviously), and rods are also different in length (SR16 is longer).

So you can either use SR16 crank/rod (68.7mm stroke) or SR20 crank/rod combination (86mm stroke) with the SR16 valve head.

If you use SR16 rods on the SR20 crank, the piston will protrude the head.
If you use SR20 rods on the SR16 crank you will end up with an even shorter stroke.

2) Sr20de head & block; sr16ve pistons can be used, only issue is one would have to notch the pistons like so...?(http://www.sr20-forum.com/vvl/29377-any-pics-modified-16ve-pistons.html#post381381)

3) Would the bump in CR to 11.8 (using the sr16ve pistons), be too much to run s3 cams? we have 93 octane in my area, also have my timing set at 19

1) yes, sr16ve pistons can be used with the sr20de crank/rod/head combination
2) yes, thats the only issue
3) I assume I would have lower the compression by way of thicker head gasket, but would i also need to retard the timing?

So it seems the SR16VE and the SR20V/DE have the same cast for the block? If this is true, then crankshafts should be interchangable. Given the right measurements and compensations for the difference in strokes.

Is the combustion chamber on the SR16VE head the same as the SR20VE/DE's?
