My bad i miss read your post above thinking you said SR20VE's weren't made after 1997.

Thou that wikki is wrong.

1997-2000 U14 JDM Nissan Bluebird SSS-Z sedan, 190 PS (139 kW)
1997-2000 Y11 JDM Nissan Wingroad ZV-S wagon, 190 PS (139 kW)

Both thats models came out in 2001 too

But what i was saying... The SR20VE ECU will plug into a older OBD1 Wiring harness as its the same plug.

the plug shape is the same but many of the pins in the ecu's are different between obd1 and obd2 in usdm cars.....the nismotronic basic ecu's are just like the calums in thats it's 2 chips with a tune burned on them....also offers a version with outputs for vvl activation.....he only sends out a BASIC tune to get you started....all basic tunes are recomended to be replaced with a proper tune for you car and exact setup.....nismotronic real time is the way to go if you can afford it

That's the thing I'm not big on funds that's why it will be a while before i can get the motor. Kinda going for a budget swap

Miko is not the only place to get a VE engine. I just got one from Soko out in CA for $985 shipped. Ultra clean engine.

I have seen a few threads on here about VE swaps and using DE ECUS or stock VE ecus and my question is why? Why would you spend all of this money for an engine and supporting mods and then short change the whole build with one of if not the most important pieces, the ECU. Spend the money right and get a chipped ECU or get a real time.

The header will bolt on, but it may require you to hog out the bolt holes a little. Please save yourself the trouble, research the build and do it right the first time. If you dont have the money right away, save and do it right. You will only regret throwing this together.

Like my post said I am trying to get everything straight now. It will be a while before I actually do it. And that's why I'm asking about chipping the de ecu. I was just curious as to what would be the result of running an untuned de ecu I never said I was going to.

Didnt mean to come off like an asshole... Like I said, take your time, do it right and the end result will be leaps and bounds ahead of an untuned ECU. The swap itself isnt that hard, but you need a few supporting mods for it to be reliable. You will need to swap out all the coolant sensors from the DE to the VE. You will also need an MSD window switch or something equivalent. I just went from DET to VE myself, so I just went through the parts buying process. Let me know if you have any other questions. Make sure you get yourself some big exhaust too, the VE will like that.
