I've seen a couple of people hating on SPEC clutches now, but aren't they the ones Greg sells? At least, when I ordered one of the "bigger" setups, I got a SPEC clutch.

Here's what was on the invoice and bill:

SPEC CLUTCH KIT, 3+ SUPER CLAMP, SR20 FWD
The flagship stage for a high powered street or race car that requires a manageable and friendly engagement, the stage 3+ features a carbon semi-metallic full faced material that offers unparalleled life, friction co-efficient and drivability characteristics in one single package. The hub is double sprung with spring cover relieves for flexibility and heat treated components for strength and durability. Great for street, drag, drift, autocross, road racing, pulling, rallye and drift.
High clamp pressure plate
Carbon semi-metallic friction material
High torque sprung hub and disc assembly
Bearing and tool kit
599.00

I'd like to say that I do believe Spec, and Competition Clutch and others likely make great multi-plate clutches for us. I'm just talking about single disc stuff here. Multi-disc clutches are a completely different ball game.

Ive been running a spec stage 3 clutch for ~10k miles now and about 4-5 months now. I had to pull the transmission a few weeks ago and apon inspection it looks almost new. The pressure plate also looks to be in great shape. No warping anywhere.

The strongest set up i have had on the clutch was a VE with N1's and full bolt ons.

Is the kit listed on his web site? I can't find it...

What kind of torque are you looking to deal with?

Well, I've ordered it almost a year ago, it might have vanished from the website. However, it wasn't listed as a SPEC kit. It once was listed similarly like this one:

http://www.gspec.com/p-4885-clutch-kit-bundle-20-stage-4.aspx

According to the SPEC website:

A $99 Super Clamp pressure plate option is available for all stages. This option will increase the torque capacities by 30%

I have the Super Clamp pressure plate as well, so 442 should be the amount of torque it SHOULD hold.

To be honest, I never thought about aiming for a certain number, but I think I got the most expensive, and the strongest full disc set Greg had to offer at the time.

BTW, I'm gonna run a VE+T (3076r) with it. I just hope the clutch will be up to it.

Unless there's a lot of info on that particular disc and PP combo I don't think there's much you can do other than run it and hope for the best. A VE+T with a GT3076R at above maybe 1 bar of boost is going to stress even the best full-faced disc I would bet. If I were you I'd probably have thrown in the towel and gone with an 8 or 6 puck disc, or saved up for a twin disc. =/
If that clutch is up to what it says it is, you could be in good shape though. Keep us updated.

As much as JGY sucks, their 6-puck (which is made by Competition clutch) is an awesome clutch for the price.

Been running them for years.
